About Ting-ru | Founder of Rye Lin Art & Translation
Ting-ru completed her first translation project in the summer of 2015 — a literature and photobook written and produced by a Taiwanese photographer. That experience marked the beginning of her journey as a translator.
In her final year at National Taiwan Normal University’s Department of English, she was selected for an exchange programme and spent a semester at the Australian National University, taking courses in Contemporary Asian Art, Art and Design Histories, and related subjects. Afterward, she took a gap year and worked at a law firm in Sydney, serving as both a translator and an education and immigration consultant.
Since graduating, Ting-ru has lived and worked across Taipei, Taichung, Sydney, and Hong Kong. She is now a freelance translator and interpreter specialising in art, design, culture, architecture, and marketing campaigns. Working across English, Mandarin, Taiwanese, and Cantonese, she also leads a team that includes exceptional Japanese and Korean translators and interpreters based throughout Taiwan.
Driven by her passion for the arts, Ting-ru frequently collaborates with cultural institutions such as the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, the National Taiwan University of Arts, Art Taipei (a long-established art fair in the capital), and Ink Global (an art fair in Hong Kong), as well as numerous curators, artists, critics, and galleries both locally and internationally.
Beyond the arts, she provides translation and interpreting services for clients in diverse industries—including technology, finance, machinery, construction, and skincare—with notable partners such as Garmin and Ever Rich Duty-Free Shops. Her clientele also includes leading academic institutions like National Taiwan University.
